Education

Our first commitment is to provide you with information and knowledge so that you can understand the investment decisions you must make.

Over the last thirty years, developments in three disparate fields — economics, law, and financial services — have combined in a new synthesis, offering investors a new and more effective path to investment success.

Economics

Research into the behavior of financial markets has blossomed into an important discipline within economics. We stay current with this research, and keep clients informed about academic developments that have the greatest practical implications. We distill scientific discoveries into the principles and methods we apply to the systematic supervision of client portfolios [1].

Law

Key principles of financial economics are now codified in trust and pension law, and fiduciaries are held to standards of investment conduct defined by these principles. Although individual investors may choose to ignore these standards, we believe that individuals should manage their own portfolios just as prudently as fiduciaries must manage portfolios for others.

Our firm routinely consults with trusts and retirement plans on such issues. Individual investors benefit from the depth of our expertise in this area.

Financial Services

Financial services vendors offer a broad range of investment products. Some work well in the new synthesis — others do not. We filter the claims and counterclaims, and determine which instruments complement each other in client portfolios.
