Link to the Academic Community

Purpose of SCLC [1] Publications

Our publications establish a direct link between investors and the body of academic work that analyzes the nature and conduct of capital markets. The value of this academic work lies in its proven, but ill-publicized, ability to provide investors with a rational methodology for selecting and maintaining profitable investment portfolios [2].

While the academic community’s viewpoint on investment issues is by no means homogeneous, academic research has several important advantages:

This scientific perspective can be viewed as a screen which investors can use to separate fact from opinion.

We offer two primary publications: Investment Quarterly and Fiduciary [3] Forum. Investment Quarterly is primarily directed towards individual investors. Fiduciary Forum addresses issues and concerns relating to investing for the benefit of others.

Investment Quarterly

The Investment Quarterly serves as a counterpoint to the opinions and advice routinely furnished in the popular and financial press. The Quarterly offers no prognostications as to the strength or weakness of the economy or the direction of interest rates. Nor does the report recommend the purchase or sale of specific stocks or mutual funds, or advise readers on the timing of their investments in a given sector or in the market at large. Instead, the Quarterly reports on the fundamental principles that drive the capital markets, as discovered, developed and documented by leading financial economists.

The Investment Quarterly also provides investors with statistical information concerning the recent and historical returns achieved by various asset classes [4] within the world’s financial markets. The Quarterly endeavors to present this information in a way that demonstrates the markets’ rational framework and the inherent equilibrium between risk and return [5].

Fiduciary Forum

The Fiduciary Forum provides useful information by distilling highly detailed and complex material from within three environments (Legal, Academic and Sales/Administrative) that may have conflicting characteristics or contradictory objectives. Investment fiduciaries Understanding its contents will help formulate prudent wealth management strategies and guide decision making process that are legally defensible, academically supportable and administratively reasonable.
